TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Cirebon chapter of the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) has found two foreigners owning e-ID cards in the region listed in the voter list (DPT) for the 2019 Election. The finding was revealed after the agency monitored 215 foreigners in the city, said Bawaslu Cirebon head M. Joharudin.
“Their status is still as foreign citizens,” said Johar today, March 4.
The foreigners are Yumiko Kashu (59) and Yap Soe Bok (78). The regional Bawaslu was still verifying their residences. “We are still looking for their whereabouts,” he added.
Johar said one of the foreigners, Yumiko, was even listed in the voter list for the previous regional election. However, she did not come to the voting station. According to Johar, most of the total 215 foreigners who bear e-ID cards hail from South Korea, China and Japan—among others.

Under Article 198 of Law No. 7 of 2017, only Indonesian citizens (WNI) above 17-year-old or those who are married have the right to cast a ballot.
“That means other than WNI cannot vote [in the election],” Johar underlined. Hence, Bawaslu would recommend the General Election Commission (KKPU) clear those names from the DPT in Cirebon. “We have reported the case to the Bawaslu of West Java,” he noted.
Meanwhile, the head of KPU Cirebon, Didi Nursidi, claimed he had not heard any news yet regarding foreigners with e-ID cards listed in DPT. “We have received information that the total number of foreigners in Cirebon city is 240 people and all of them do not own e-ID cards.
Didi said KPU Cirebon would look into the issue. He added the DPT would not be revised but the agency would make a note explaining the two were ineligible to vote.
