TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Home Affairs Ministry’s Director General of Population and Civil Registration Zudan Arif Fakrulloh gave an official clarification regarding the rumor of a foreign national listed in the final voter list (DPT) for the 2019 election.
Zudan maintains that foreigners are barred from taking part in the 2019 general election as mentioned in Law No. 7/2017 Article 1 (34) which oversees the general elections.
“This means that any foreigner that has an electronic ID card (E-Ktp) does not have the right to vote,” said Zudan at the Home Affairs Ministry headquarter on Wednesday.

He mentioned that the data belonging to a Chinese national Guohui Chen is not included in any electoral potential voters data (DP4) held by the General Election Committee (KPU).
Moreover, KPU Chairman for the Cianjur region Hilman Wahyudi explained that this issue emerged due to a mere data input error. He assures that there are no foreign nationals included in the region’s final voter list for the 2019 general election.
“Officials across voting locations will surely screen the ID Cards of the voters and refuse those who are foreign nationals,” said Hilman.
