TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi said that since 2017, the realization of the issuance of land certificates by the Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning has exceeded the target. It could reach 5.4 million certificates from the target of 5 million in 2017, and in the next year, it reached 9.4 million certificates from the target of 7 million.
“This year, the target is 9 million. Later, the realization might reach 11 or 12 million,” Jokowi said after handing over 2,500 land certificates to the people in the Pendopo Blitar Regency, East Java, as quoted in a press release by setkab.go.id on Thursday, January 3.
The president often heard about land disputes among the villagers, explaining that the land certificate is important for them in reducing such issues.
Jokowi also advised the public to photocopy the land certificate and put it in plastic once they received it. So, the rightful landowner still has a copy, if the original certificate is lost.
In addition, Jokowi mentioned that some people would use land certificates to get loans from banks. He, therefore, advised the people to wisely calculate if they want to use their land certificates to apply for loans.
“If you get a loan, for example, Rp300 million, use it entirely as the capital for business, work, or investment. Do not use it for the spree or purchase and showing off luxury items,” Jokowi remarked.
