Jakarta Police Deploy 20,000 Personnel on New Year's Eve

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Idham Azis will deploy around 20,000 personnel to secure the 2019 New Year's Eve celebration.

“The personnel will guard 15 spots where people celebrate New Year's Eve,” Idham said at the Jakarta Police headquarters, Friday, December 28.

Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said that shopping centers, worship houses, and recreation areas will get special security. “The security officers will also be posted at bus terminals, airports and ports,” he added.

A total of 150 security posts will be on standby throughout the city for 24 hours.

The New Year’s Eve security is part of 2018 Lilin Jaya Operation which was held starting on December 21, 2018, to January 1, 2019. In total, the police will deploy 94,946 personnel to secure the New Year’s Eve celebration in the country.
