Jakarta to Hold Car Free Night on New Year's Eve

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Central Jakarta city administration will hold the Car Free Night event on New Year’s Eve, December 31. To secure the event, Central Jakarta city administration will deploy approximately 500 joint personnel.
“We have held a meeting with the Central Jakarta Police, Military District Commander (Dandim) and the joint team. There will be around 500 personnel from the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) and the police because there will be thousands of visitors,” said Deputy Mayor of Central Jakarta Irwandi said in Jakarta, Thursday, December 20.
The Car Free Night is a series of New Year’s Eve celebration that is enlivened by artists, entertainment stage, a culinary festival, and bazaar, like the Car Free Day (CFD) that is usually held every Sunday morning.
The entertainment stages will be spread out at several points, starting from the Patung Kuda (horse statue), Sarinah, the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, and Dukuh Atas.
On Car Free Night, there is also a collective wedding event that can be attended by all residents of Jakarta by registering themselves through their local villages administration.
The road closure around the Car Free Night area will take place from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
