TEMPO.CO, Bandung - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) analyzed the potential of heavy rain for the next five days, in the regions of Java, Bali and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

“Be aware of the flooding and landslides potential,” said BMKG Deputy Meteorology Division, Mulyono R. Prabowo, Monday, November 26.

In its press release, BMKG noted that parts of Java had been raining for the past few weeks which resulted at the flooding and landslides.

A closed wind circulation in the Java Sea will continue to occur for the next three days which is potential for rain in the area, Mulyono said.

The flow of wet air mass coming from the Indian Ocean also supports the growth of rain clouds in southern Sumatra, Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, South Kalimantan, South and Southeast Sulawesi and Maluku.

According to the BMKG, this condition can lead to the potential for heavy rain with lightning and strong winds. “Especially in Java, Bali, West and East Nusa Tenggara for the next five days per November 26-30,” he said.

BMKG calls on the public to be careful of the further impacts. The weather conditions can cause floods, landslides, flash floods, inundations, strong winds, fallen trees, and slippery roads.

Meanwhile, Bandung was inundated with flood water on Monday, November 26, at 1:45 p.m. Citepus River overflowed to the height of four meters after the city was hit by moderate to heavy intensity rain and strong winds.
