TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The development of five tourist villages, namely Bongkasa Pertiwi, Sangeh, Mengwi, Carangsari, and Pangsan, in Badung District, Bali Province was expected to complete in 2020. The regional administration initiated the project with a thorough concept of national development planning (PPNSB).

“We have conducted a feasibility study, and will then draft the master plan,” said Badung regent I Nyoman Giri Prasta during the meeting with tourism stakeholders in his residence, Puspem Mangupraja Mandala, Mangupura, on Tuesday, November 13.

He mentioned each village had designed the development concept to be submitted to village-owned enterprises (BUMDes) that would provide the grant money. “Through the funding, [each village] can exploit its existing potentials,” he explained.

Giri Prasta pinned hope development of tourist village in Badung could be actualized and that the five villages could be developed to provide employment and its potential could be enjoyed by local people as they are the landowner.

Meanwhile, Badung tourism agency head I Made Badra said the feasibility study concluded the integrated concept of tourist villages.

“Other than five those villages, North Badung has 17 villages that have potential to be tourist villages. We also plan to build a cable car which will be the new icon of the region in a bid to attract more tourist arrivals,” he said.
