TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) outlines three keys to deal with the global situation during Working Lunch in Suntec Convention Center, Singapore. The three keys are enhancing economic ties and fair and free trade, such as the completion of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership or RCEP which has yet decided by economic ministers of ASEAN.

The next key is tightening monetary and fiscal cooperation, such as Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralitation, and the last is improving the domestic economy by promoting the principle of good governance.

“I hope ASEAN will continue to strengthen the synergy with APEC, G-&, and IMF,” said Jokowi as noted in the press release issued by the Protocol, Press, and Media of Presidential Secretariat today, November 14.

Jokowi also reminded that the presence of ASEAN country leaders in the 33rd ASEAN Summit was aimed to tighten commitment and he hoped open economy and multilateralism could run well.

“We have to prove that trade is not a zero-sum game. The open economy and trade can produce a win-win result,” he said.

To achieve the goals, Jokowi said there was no solution, except to strengthen the cooperation. According to the President, the message was delivered during the opening ceremony of IMF-World Bank meeting in October 2018 where ASEAN strengthen commitments and ready to work with IMF-World Bank to achieve SDGs.
