TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Representing the government, Vice President Jusuf Kalla explained that he entirely trusts the police investigation on the case of Arabic `Tauhid` script flag burning.
“Isn’t that a flag that resembles the HTI flag that has a written shahada script [self-declaration]. The police are currently handling the case,” said Jusuf Kalla at his office on Tuesday, October 23.
The National Police Spokesman Insp. Gen. Setyo Wasisto said that police are studying the case and questioning three main witnesses. Police’s initial conclusion is that Nahdlatul Ulama's Ansor youth wing (Banser) members burnt the flag which they believed represented the now disbanded Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI).
“Initial statements from the three witnesses that were apprehended by the Garut police suggested that the group burnt the flag that representedHTI, a group banned under the country’s law,” said Setyo Wasisto today.
