Bali Weaving, Solo Batik Showcased at IMF-World Bank Meeting

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Nogo Bali weaving and Sharma Solo batik will be introduced to delegates and guests of the IMF-World Bank annual meeting at the Indonesia Pavilion. The weaving and batik are the products of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) managed by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs.
“We proposed four flagship SMEs including the curated ones; the Nogo Bali weaving and Sharma Solo batik,” the ministry's secretary Meliadi Sembiring said at the Indonesia Pavilion, Nusa Dua, Bali, Tuesday, October 9, adding that the two were considered to have met international standards.
Nogo Bali has been known as a producer of handmade ikat weaving which used a natural coloring. Sharma Solo batik is a unique batik manufacturer with natural coloring whose design is demanded by the market.
Meliadi said the Indonesia Pavilion would provide an overview of Indonesia. “Especially about how the SMEs as part of the economic and industrial activator in Indonesia,” he said.
The SMEs at the Indonesia Pavilion were managed by four ministries/institutions, namely the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, and the Indonesian Creative Economy Agency or Bekraf.
The SMEs that are managed by the state-owned enterprises (SOEs) will also participate. In total, there are 64 districts/cities in Indonesia and various Ministries with a total of 150 MSMEs.
The Indonesia Pavilion also featured various things about Indonesia’s development, starting from the aspect of development, business, national strategic projects, tourism, to the richness of Indonesian arts, crafts, and handicrafts.
Various supporting factors of investment that can attract the investors to invest in Indonesia are also showcased in the exhibition room measuring more than 2,000 meters.
The Indonesia Pavilion area is divided into several thematic rooms, such as SOEs Hall, Workshop Area, Showcase Area, VIP Lounge, Investment Lounge, and Stage Pavilion or coffee shop.
