Jokowi Signs Law that Rewards Informants of Corruption Cases

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko `Jokowi` Widodo revealed the reason he ratified the latest Government Regulation (PP) which regulate about the reward for corruption case informants of up to Rp200 million as an attempt to urge the public upon corruption eradication.
“We expect the [public’s] participation so we can together prevent, reduce, or even diminish corruption,” said Jokowi in Jakarta today, Oct. 10.
According to the president, the government regulates the mechanism regarding the safety guarantee of informants, which will be composed by an appointed ministry.
The corruption case informant regulation states that the general public that is in possession of information regarding corruption crimes can hand it to an authorized official member within a public agency or law enforcer agencies, either verbally or in written form.
Jokowi plans to reward the informant or public who actively, consistently, and constantly moves in the field of corruption prevention. The reward will be handed over within the duration of 30 days to chosen informants for which their information was used by the government.
