Indonesian Tourism Promoted in 5 World`s Cities

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Embassies and communities in Europe and Asia keep promoting the country`s tourism by organizing Indonesian festivals. Each promotional event held in different cities is carried out in different themes.


Here are five events promoting Indonesian tourism:


1. Indonesian Cultural Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan


Hundreds of people were claimed to have enjoyed the Indonesian Cultural Festival (ICF) held in Baku, Azerbaijan, on September 13-16. The Indonesian Embassy in Baku, was behind the event held to promote Indonesian tourism. The ambassador said in a press release on Monday, Sept. 17, that the people of Azerbaijan enjoy the Indonesian music.


Senior Indonesian musicians such as Dwiki Darmawan, Ita Purnamasari, and Amelia Ong, performed at the event held at Baku's Founten Square.


2. Colorful Indonesia Festival in Paris, France


The Indonesian Embassy in Paris cooperates with the Indonesian Diaspora Network France to organize the 2018 Colorful Indonesia Festival (FCI). The event with the theme of the Ranah Minang will be held on September 22-23.


The festival will offer anything related to Minang tribe in West Sumatra including its culinary, traditional home design interiors, as well as art which will be presented by the Padang Panjang Indonesian Art Institute group, and even singer Elly Kasim.


The event that will be held in Pavillon Dauphine, Paris, is aimed at increasing Indonesia's trade, tourism, and investment.


3. Indonesia Day Festival in Istanbul, Turkey


The Indonesian Consulate General in Istanbul, in collaboration with the Jakarta Blue Economy Foundation (BEF), organized an Indonesia Day Festival in Istanbul, Turkey. It was held on September 8 at the ballroom of the Conrad Hotel, Besiktas.


The visitors were introduced to various aspects of Indonesian culture through the fashion show, traditional culinary, traditional dance performance, and batik workshop.


The fashion show session featured the work of famous Indonesian designers, such as Dian Pelangi, Rumah Betawi, Warna Alam, Syahdana, Unique, Marita, La Javanaise, Klambie Abite and Touch of Indonesia.


4. Indonesia Weekend in London, England


The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism held the Indonesian Weekend, the largest Indonesian tourism promotion event in the United Kingdom. It took place at Potters Fields Park, next to the office of the Mayor of London, on September 8-9.


Deputy of Marketing Development of the Ministry of Tourism, Nia Niscaya, said the festival showcased the atmosphere of Bali Beach on the banks of the Thames River. A stage featuring dancers, musicians playing Indonesian traditional musical instruments, and silat fighters will also enliven the event.


5. Indonesian Culinary Festival in Seoul, South Korea.


Rendang and Udang Bumbu Bali were the most favorite dishes served in the Indonesian Culinary Festival in Seoul, on September 9-15. This event was held at La Seine Restaurant, a 5-star restaurant in Seoul Lotte Hotel.


Indonesian Embassy's social and cultural official in Seoul, Purno Widodo, said the culinary festival managed to attract more than 6,000 visitors during the week. Seoul Lotte Hotel Banquet Manager, Daniel Song, said there were 250 restaurant visitors per day.
