TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan highlighted a number of issues besetting the capital that became his priorities when welcoming the participants of the ASEAN Leader Programm at the City Hall in Central Jakarta on Thursday, September 13.

To the participants, Anies mentioned that congestion and flooding had always become main issues in Jakarta. "However, when Jakartans are asked what their main problems are in general, they will say living costs, clean water access, work fields or unemployment, health and education," he said.

Anies said social inequality was also the biggest challenge for Jakarta to tackle.

“For that reason, since the beginning of our service at the Jakarta Provincial Administration, we strived to implement the City 4.0 concept, where the administration acts a collaborator and the residents as co-creators,” said Anies Baswedan.

Anies Baswedan explained there were many problems in Jakarta that required higher participation from residents. "Solutions do not only come from us in the administration," he said.

The ASEAN Leaders Programme is an event held by an international non-profit organization dubbed Common Purpose that seeks to create cross-border leaders and resolve urban issues.
