TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commissioner of the General Election Commission (KPU) Viryan Azis denied that there were 25 million double voters in the final voter`s list (DPT).

“No, hopefully, it won't reach 25 million,” he said in his office, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 4.

The Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno coalition previously claimed that the DPT data recorded 25 million double voters, so they asked the KPU to review the data.

Viryan said that the DPT data was collected from the district and city, provincial, to the national level but the provided data was different.

According to the orders of the Population and Civil Registry Service department, a complete Population Registration Number (NIK) was not included in the voters' data submitted to political parties. The last four digits of NIK are blurred to maintain the confidentiality.

Viryan suspected that the alleged double voter data was caused by the difference in that data. “It’s very possible that their analysis was carried out using incomplete NIK,” he said, adding that the incomplete data allows double data.

In addition, the analysis only uses names, places, and dates of birth, as well as NIK with incomplete digits, while the KPU uses more variables when registering voters.

Viryan said that the KPU will hold a plenary meeting related to the national-level DPT tomorrow. The temporary voters' list (DPS) recorded 185,098,281 voters until July 12. Meanwhile, DPT data up to this afternoon recorded 185,732,093 voters and the data collected by polling stations (TPS) was 805,000 voters.
