TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) closed the case on alleged political dowry involving Sandiaga Uno due to lack of strong evidence.
Earlier, Bawaslu received a report on the accusation of political dowry committed by future vice presidential candidate Sandiaga Uno for the National Mandate Party (PAN) and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) to let him being Prabowo Subianto’s running mate in the 2019 Presidential Election.
“No indication of violation on the election law committed by the reported person [Sandiaga Uno],” said Bawaslu head Abhan in a written statement, Friday, August 31.

Abnan explained that the person who report it and the witness neither directly heard nor saw the transaction. “Yet hearing it from other parties, so it is lack of proof,” he said.
Bawaslu, according to Abhan, could not obtain a direct statement from Andi Arief as the first person who made the accusation because he did not fulfill the agency’s summons. The investigation was required to back his testimony on the pieces of evidence such as clipping, screenshot photo, and video brought by the person who submitted the report. Thus the evidence was not valid.
Sandiaga Uno, meanwhile, had clarified the accusation to the Corruption Eradication Commission's (KPK) wealth reporting director (LHKPN) Cahya Hardianto Harefa. “I said to Pak Cahya that I deny the allegation and state that it is basically untrue,” he said on Thursday, August 14 at KPK building.
