TEMPO.CO, Depok - Head of Traffic Unit of Depok City Police Commissioner Sutomo criticized the lack of pedestrian bridge or JPO on Jalan Margonda Raya. According to him, the condition triggered the vulnerability of accidents to pedestrians.
“Five JPOs in Margonda are still not enough,” he said Monday, August 27. Sutomo explained, in 2016 there was an accident that killed a University of Indonesia (UI) student. The victim was hit by a motorcycle when crossing Jalan Margonda. UI also wrote a letter to Depok City administration, and then the pedestrian bridges were built.
That is why the 4,8-meter Jalan Margonda must be added with several pedestrian bridges.
“It needs about two more pedestrian bridges,” Sutomo said. He believes that the most effective crossing in Depok is a pedestrian bridge, not a zebra crossing or pelican crossing.
He proposed that the additional bridges be placed in several crowded spots, including Margonda Segment 2, namely the intersection of Jalan Juanda until the junction of Jalan Arif Rahman Hakim or Ramanda intersection. In this segment, there is a Depok Mall.
