TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Telkomsel exhibited several examples of its 5G technology application in the Asian Games 2018. The company has also opened the `Telkomsel 5G Experience Center` booth at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium complex.
Here are several of Telkomsel’s illustration on the future of 5G technology that could come to fruition:
1. Cycling Everywhere
This offers a virtual reality (VR) technology equipped with Telkomsel’s 5G on the experience of cycling. Visitors would only have to view into their VR and will experience a sensory overload that will mimic a real cycling experience that is assisted by the 5G’s 20GB per second and low latency.
2. Football 2022
This feature will provide a new experience of playing football in a virtual environment without having the users play it on the field. The Football 2022 is a revolutionary football game that will be further developed.
3. Beat the Robot
This is where a robot can quickly react to an opponent during a game of Jan-ken-pon (Japanese version of rock-paper-scissors). The robot will react with a quick response in defeating its human opponent which showcases the low latency ability up to 1 millisecond reaction time of its 5G technology.
4. Future Driving
Drivers would be able to drive a car from a distant location via a remote control. The experience of driving will be provided by the VR technology implemented in this feature that is able to transfer data up to 20GB per second.
5. Autonomous Electric Vehicle
This fully autonomous vehicle is produced by French company Navya that has worked together with Telkomsel and Chinese enterprise ST Engineering. The vehicle is able to accommodate 12 passengers with 8 seats. It is also equipped with a 360-degree camera to monitor the surrounding situation.
