TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Traffic Director of Jakarta Police, Senior Commissioner Yusuf, confirmed that it would implement road closure on Jalan Gerbang Pemuda, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta during the opening of the 2018 Asian Games on August 18.

“The plan is to have a road closure on Jalan Gerbang Pemuda near the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium, not the TVRI (National Television Broadcasting Station),” Yusuf said in Jakarta Police headquarter, South Jakarta, Monday, August 13.

According to Yusuf, the private vehicles coming from Gatot Subroto’s direction cannot turn left at the corner next to the Jakarta Convention Center, Senayan. They can use an alternative road, straight towards to Slipi from Jalan Gatot Subroto. Likewise with the vehicles coming from the direction of Benhil (Bendungan Hilir) that pass the overpass.

Police also plan to close Jalan Asia-Afrika. Because, Yusuf said, several heads of state will come to Jakarta through these two roads.

Police are still awaiting evaluation meeting on the 2018 Asian Games traffic-engineering issues planned to be held today at the Jakarta Police Traffic Directorate building at 08:00 am.

Yusuf said the police must coordinate first with several agencies such as the Greater Jakarta Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ), PT Jasa Marga, and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR).
