TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said she would sue a Facebook user for spreading lies online—accusing the government of planning to sell Bali Island to pay for state debts. The minister asserted that the accusation is false and baseless.
Sri Mulyani said that the Facebook user, Sandy Yah, will be reported to the police.
"[We will] prosecute the person who created and distributed this hoax; account owner Sandy Yah, for spreading lies and false news," the minister said via her Instagram account @smindrawati on August. 12.

The post also said that the hoax, designed to appear as a news post, was first distributed online in October last year. The post had since disappeared from the internet, as well as the website's admin.
However, a Facebook account under the name Snady Yah uploaded a screenshot of the fake news on August 10.
Sri said that the post is a cruel slander directed at the government. She asserted that it is not true, and that Indonesia is not for sale.
