TEMPO.CO, Mataram - A 4.1 magnitude aftershock struck Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara, on Wednesday, August 1, at 18:04 local time. No tsunami warning was issued.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) noted the epicenter of the quake was at 8.36 south latitude and 116.63 East Longitude. “The earthquake occurs 18 kilometers away from the northeast of East Lombok District, at the depth of 10 km,” said Mataram Geophysics Station head Agus Riyanto.

Agus said based on the epicenter, the hypocenter, and the source, the earthquake was caused by stone deformation by the activity of Flores Back Arc Thrust. “The analysis result shows that the earthquake is caused by the stone deformation by the thrust fault,” he added.
