TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan planned to appoint certain points for the services of the online motorcycle taxi or online ojek. The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan put the online ojek affairs to the governor.

“We’ll just see, that’s governor’s affairs,” said Luhut in Wisma Hijau, Depok, Friday, July 27.

The special points were set to prevent online ojek drivers using the side of the roads for its services. Anies also planned to summon online ojek operators to talks on its parking management.

Anies said the meeting with the operators would discuss in which points online ojek drivers could use or avoid in picking up the prospective passengers.

Responding to the plan, Grab Indonesia said it had 90 shelters of GrabBike throughout the city as the parking spots of its drivers.

“We have prepared it since the beginning because we know the parking spaces and rest areas are needed for our driver partners, so we build a number of shelters gradually,” said Grab Indonesia Public Relations head Andre Sebastian.

Andre explained all shelters of online ojek were part of Grab’s partnerships with several shopping malls, building owners, and railway stations in Jakarta. Grab also provided GrabBike Lounge located in Daan Mogot, West Jakarta which was equipped by facilities such as restrooms, charging booths, barber shop, motorcycle wash, helm wash, and machine shop.
