TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) and the Democrat Party have agreed to arrange a meeting for Puan Maharani with Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).
PDI-P secretary-general Hasto Kristiyanto said the meeting was scheduled at the behest of Democrat chair Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) to build communication between both parties.
“Bu Megawati has assigned Puan, we are looking for some time after the legislative candidacy,” Hasto said after meeting with the deputy chairman of the Democrat's supervisory board, Agus Hermanto, at the PDI-P central board in Menteng on Friday, July 13.
Hasto said it was possible that the planned meeting was relative to the 2019 presidential election. “There is always room for cooperation despite different political stances," he said.

Meanwhile, Agus said his meeting with Hasto was to discuss common things, and that there would be further meetings to converse on more specific matters.
“Perhaps next time, we can invite the PDI-P to our place, but clearly this is the discourse of our desire for togetherness, to keep our relationship and strengthen what we do for the nation and country,” said Agus.
Previously, through a video footage broadcasted on Thursday, July 12, SBY said the Democrat had three options ahead of the presidential race. The first is they inch closer to President Joko Widodo, the second is they support Prabowo Subianto, and the last is building a third axis.

SBY also said his party would seek more intense communication with other parties in the weeks to come prior to deciding its political stance to face the 2019 presidential election. He added his party would opt to join forces with parties that shared the same vision in building the nation.
