TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A series of attempts has been made to appeal against the results of the 2018 simultaneous regional elections. Until Tuesday, July 10, the Constitutional Court (MK) received 50 appeal letters against the election results.
Three of 50 submissions are appealing against the results of a gubernatorial election and were submitted to the constitutional court in the same day on July 10.
“It is regarding the South Sumatra election, Maluku Province, and North Maluku,” said constitutional court spokesman Fajar Laksono.
According to the MK, the first complaint was filed by candidates of Maluku governor and deputy governor, Herman Adrian Koedoeboen and Abdullah Vanath. This pair of candidates ran in the election independently.
Based on the final recapitulation of the General Elections Commission (KPU), both Herman and Abdullah are ranked the last place after gaining 225,636 votes, which is quite far from the votes for elected candidates Murad Ismail and Barnabas Orno that collected 328,982 votes.
The second appeal was filed by South Sumatra gubernatorial candidates Dodi Reza Alex Noerdin and Giri Ramanda Kiemas. Meanwhile, the third appeal was filed by candidates Abdul Gani Kasuba and Al Yasin Ali for the North Maluku election.
