TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The suspected bomber in Pasuruan was an ex-terrorist convict in 2010 who served time for five years at Cipinang Prison, said Police spokesperson Brig. Gen. Mohammad Iqbal today at Police headquarter, South Jakarta.

In 2010, the suspect A planned to blast a police post at Kalimalang, East Jakarta with a homemade bomb tied in his bicycle. After he was released, A often communicated with other ex-inmates in a community group.

“We also suspect that A joins in Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) [terrorist network],” said Iqbal.

As reported earlier, three explosions occurred in a rental house at Pogar, Bangil, Pasuruan, East Java, on Thursday afternoon, July 5. East Java Police spokesperson Sr. Commr. Frans Barung Mangera said the explosions occurred at 11:30 local times.

Frans explained the first explosion occurred from inside a house rented by A and DR. During the first explosion, a witness came and checked into the house and came out later because of the smell of gunpowder.

The suspected perpetrator A attacked Bangil Resort Police Chief Pasuruan M. Iskak who was, fortunately, able to save his life.

The police are currently hunting down the perpetrator of bombing in Pasuruan who brought with him a backpack and rode a motorcycle. The perpetrator left his injured child and wife. The child was currently under a treatment at Bangil Regional Hospital, Pasuruan, while the wife was under police investigation in a bid to dismantle the syndicate of the bomb owner.
