TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Culture Department of West Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, will hold a number of traditional art competitions in early July. This event is part of a series of Sejiran Setason Earth Festival, on 5-7 July 2018, at Gelora Muntok Field.

According to the committee chairman, Anung Yunianto, the traditional art competition is intended for the preservation of local cultural heritage. The types of art that are contested include the art of campak, dambus, rudat, and tambourine.

“It is prepared as an annual agenda for the development of regional arts and culture,” said Anung in Muntok, Saturday, June 23.

Anung hopes through the competition, the artists will be more eager to preserve the cultural heritage of the ancestors while enriching the local cultural treasures.

“And can contribute in the development of regional tourism,” said Anung.

West Bangka, especially Muntok, is one of the areas that have been established as a historical and cultural tourist destination of Bangka Belitung Province. Traditional art is an ancestral heritage that has the value of local wisdom.

“In addition to presenting a show, we expect the community to be involved in extracting the values contained in every motion, poetry, song, and spirit of togetherness that is added by the artists,” said Anung.
