TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The European Union's decision to lift the travel ban for Indonesian airlines on June 14, 2018, is expected to give positive impacts not only on the aviation industry. Head of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, said that the removal of the travel ban will eventually boost the tourism sector.

Rosan stated that the lifting of the travel ban will increase connectivity. "And is expected to boost the tourism sector because there will be direct flights," Rosan said on Saturyda, June 16, 2018. "Of course, we are happy, it is proof that we have been accepted to fly in Europe and it will certainly have its effects," Rosan added.

Rosan said that he has held discussions with Garuda Indonesia Director Pahala N. Mansury in relation to the lifting of the travel ban. From the discussion, Rosan said that there are possibilities to open a direct flight to Paris.

"I have talked with Garuda Indonesia Director, there are plans for flights to Paris," Rosan explained.

On Thursday, June 14, 2018, the European Commission removed all Indonesian registered airlines from the European Union Air Safety List, which contains the name of airlines considered to have failed to meet international aviation safety standards. The European Commission also published a new list that restricts a number of airlines from operating within the European Union airspace.

The new list exempted all Indonesian airlines from flight restrictions within the European Union airspace following recent improvements in aviation safety aspects.
