“We will build three ports out of the four ports we've proposed. It is in Puger Beach, Payangan Beach and Getem Beach,” Faida said during the sailing safety socialization in Jember Regency on Tuesday, May 22.
One of the ports will be a culinary tourist destination in Puger district.
“In the future, Puger will be built for coastal tourism and marine culinary tourist destination specialized in sea fish. We are cooperating with the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, so we should prepare it from now on,” she said.
Faida said that the ports are not only for tourism but also for goods and services. The government will also build a refrigerated warehouse for fishes.
The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries established integrated cold storage (ICS) in Jember Regency. “Jember fisherman have the right to get socialization about this matter, they will also get the assurance as a fisherman,” said the first female mayor in Jember.
Faida hopes the project would be utilized to the fullest. She hopes it could keep out the children of Puger fishermen from dropping out of school.
