TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - TheJakarta Composite Index (JCI) closed Tuesday`s trade with a decline due to investors` fear over rupiah`s fluctuation. The JCI closed 78.51bps or 1.24 percent down to 6,229.63.
Meanwhile, the LQ45 slipped 16.58 points or 1.61 percent to 1010.87.
"The rupiah's weakening over the US dollar was one of the factors withholding the JCI's climb," Panin Sekuritas analyst William Hartanto said here on Tuesday, April 24.
He said that the rupiah depreciation caused concerns that issuers that rely on commodity exports will be affected. Additionally, foreign investors booked a net sell of US$659.47 billion.
Today's trade saw 11.424 billion shares worth Rp7.296 trillion transacted for 384,855 times. The IDX recorded 125 shares experiencing price gains while 254 weakened and 108 stagnated.
