3 Facts about the Viral Kartini Beach in Jepara

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Kartini Beach has become a limelight in the society since a video footage displaying a performance of erotic dance held by motorcycle community on Saturday, April 14 went viral on cyberspace. The police are currently investigating the case.


Kartini Beach is a tourists destination in Jepara city. Other than as recreation spot, the beach usually features local traditional event. Here are three facts about Kartini Beach.


1. Location


Kartini Beach is located at 2.5 km westward of Jepara Regency Hall in Bulu village. In the area of 3.5 hectares, the beach is functioned as a sea transportation port to Karimunjava National Sea Park and Panjang Island.


2. Traditional Events


Kartini Beach is usually a location for traditional events such as Lebaran Ketupat, locally known as kupatan, takes place. Kupatan is a celebration that is held a week after Eid al-Fitr holiday.


There is also an annual event dubbed Lomban which is held in the west of the beach, precisely in the bathing place that the local people deem the water can heal rheumatism and skin irritation.


Another traditional event which is done the area is Kirab Festival Kartini. The festival is involved by dozens of women riding horses and wearing a palace warrior costume guard Queen Shima and Queen Kalinyamat.


3. Kura-Kura Ocean Park


Kura-kura (turtle) ocean park is marine tourism destination in Jepara. The building is shaped like a giant turtle with the dimension of 3,000-meter square x 15-meter. A number of attractions are provided inside the aquarium including Wahana Kolam Sentuh (touch pool) where koi fish, turtles, and golden mahseer fish live. In addition, people can watch the marine life in a theater inside the aquarium.
