TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Cinere-Serpong toll road, which construction has been halted for eight years, is expected to operate in 2019.
President Director of PT Waskita Toll Road Herwidiakto said that the progress of land acquisition for the 10.14-kilometer toll road has reached 70 percent.
"Physical construction of the Cinere-Serpong toll road is currently at 15 percent. We'll speed up the process so it can be operational next year," Herwidiakto said on Tuesday, April 10, 2018.
Herwidiakto admitted that there were obstacles in the project's land acquisition process. However, he stated that the construction process should have no problem.
The Cinere-Serpong toll road is managed by PT Cinere Serpong Jaya, a company which shares are owned by PT Jasa Marga Tbk. (55 percent), PT Waskita Toll Road (35 percent), PT Jakarta Propertindo (10 percent) and PT Waskita Karya.
The toll road project was initiated in 2006 with the land acquisition targeted to be completed in 2008. However, the process remains unfinished until today.
After being halted for approximately eight years, the construction project was restarted in September 2017, after PT Jasa Marga Tbk. together with PT Waskita Toll Road, and PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) acquired the shares owned by the previous concession holders.
