House Asks Ministry to Review Dr. Terawan Methods in 45 Days

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR) urged the Ministry of Health to immediately complete their review of the Digital Subtraction Angiography or brainwashing method conducted by Doctor Terawan Agus Putranto.


"[Conduct] further research by the government, release a statement, and solve the problem so it will not to become a polemic," said Chairman of Commission IX Dede Yusuf Macan Effendi after a meeting with PB IDI, MKEK IDI, KKI, AIPI and Ministry of Health at the DPR complex on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.


The review was proposed by IDI Executive Board, which requested for the DSA method by Doctor Terawan to be reviewed by the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) team.


Previously, there was circulated a letter from the Medical Code of Ethics Council (MKEK) IDI that states the temporary dismissal of Doctor Terawan. The letter was related to the DSA method that Doctor Terawan, which was considered to violate the medical code of ethics.


Dede said the result of the meeting also urged the Minister of Health to form a task force together with the Indonesian Medical Council (KKI) and IDI to conduct a review of the DSA method for 45 days. The institutions were asked to immediately solve the problem relating to Doctor Terawan.


In addition, Commission IX also urged the Ministry of Health along with KKI and IDI to provide an explanation to the public to prevent unrest.
