TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian delegation to the United Nations held a screening of the movie Kartini at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Monday, March 19.
“The movie Kartini was screened at the UN headquarters to encapsulate the struggle of Indonesian women in pushing for women’s emancipation and empowerment,” said Triansyah Djani, Permanent Representative of Indonesia to the United Nations on Tuesday, March 20.
The movie directed by Hanung Bramantyo was screened during the Commission on the Status of Women's (CSW) 62nd conference. The movie screening is set to be held for two weeks since March 12 at the UN headquarters.
Hanung Bramantyo was also present at the screening to engage in discussions with delegations from the countries participating in the CSW.
“I was glad about the warm welcome towards ‘Kartini’ from CSW delegations. I hope that it can inspire people to support the struggles of the many women throughout the world on gender equality,” said Hanung.
The screening was driven by the initiatives of the Indonesian permanent representatives to highlight the issues that are faced by women all over the globe.
“Indonesian women are actively growing the peaceful culture throughout the world, especially in UN’s peacekeeping missions,” said Triansyah Djani.
