TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister’s Directorate General of Taxation recorded 6.1 million taxpayers has submitted their annual tax return forms (SPTs) of their 2017 income taxes (PPh) up until Friday, March 16.

“Our goal is to have roughly 14million tax reports. We hope the 8million that have not reported would submit their tax returns,” said director general of taxation Robert Pakpahan today.

He said that 75 percent of the taxpayers that have filed their income taxes reported it through e-Filing or the online version.

Robert added that tax obedience has improved each year, with 73 percent taxpayers reporting their income taxes in 2016. He predicts that 2018 will see 80 percent taxpayers reporting their SPT from the 18million people who are required to do so.

“We’ll wait until March 30 or March 31,” Robert said.

Taxpayers can report their income taxes through two methods, first is through e-Filing, reporting it directly at a tax office (KPP), send the tax return form by mail or have it sent by a courier to an officially listed tax office.
