TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Chief Inspector Police General Idham Azis admitted that he has heard the plan of Islamic Defenders Front or FPI who will hold a peace rally at Tempo office in Palmerah, South Jakarta on Friday, March 16.

“I have heard [about it]," Idham said when contacted by Tempo, Thursday, March 15, about the FPI demonstration plan.

But when asked about how many police personnel that will be deployed to secure the peace rally, Idham reluctant to provide answers and suggested Tempo ask West Jakarta Police Chief directly instead. "Ask the West Jakarta Police Chief," he said.

According to FPI Spokesman Novel Bamukmin, FPI is driven to hold the peaceful rally after Tempo published a cartoon that pictured a man in a white robe sitting in front of a woman published in February 26th edition of the Tempo Magazine. Novel perceived the man as the FPI supreme leader, Rizieq Shihab.

The FPI members will assemble at the Al-Ishlah Mosque in Petamburan, Central Jakarta before heading to Tempo office. "The peace rally will be held after Friday prayer," Novel said, Thursday, March 15. However, Novel could not yet confirm the number of the protesters who will join the rally.

FPI demands an official clarification from Tempo regarding the cartoon mentioned above. "And to apologize for what the cartoon meant," said Novel.
