TEMPO.CO, San Francisco - Sony and Nikon join Scenera startup to develop a smart camera. They are part of the Intelligent Technology Alliance Network (NICE), as reported by the CNET page, February 5.

The group hopes to create a more intelligent camera and connect with the internet so that it can expand its function through a smartphone. They also want the camera to capture a richer image.

According to NICE, the camera will be more useful than cameras made by Amazon, Google, and Netgear. And they want users to add new features to their cameras like adding new apps to the smartphones.

Besides Sony, Nikon and Scenera, it will be designed by the design company Asia Wistron and Foxconn. “If all goes well, more producers will join,” said Scenera Chief Executive David Lee.

Lee believes there will be strong incentives for technology giants to join. According to IHS Markit an analyst company, camera security is a big problem and has been installed tens of millions in North America.

“The connected camera will be able to send alerts when there is a movement at home or anywhere. Although there may be not happy with the reliability of the warning or with the expensive price,” said Lee.

Toward the end of 2018, NICE will complete the technology to make the camera have smarter security and to connect with any image serving service.

“We want the app developers or cameras to work with us so that NICE-Compliant products can be marketed in mid-2019,” he said.
