Jokowi Announces Budi Waseso`s Substitute Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi has received the candidates to replace National Narcotics Agency (BNN) head Budi Waseso (Buwas). Buwas will be retired in March.


“The names have submitted to the President, some time ago,” said Johan Budi, Special Staff of the Presidential Communication and Information at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, February 28.


Johan Budi said there are three names proposed by Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian which will possibly be decided today.

Regarding the replacement's criteria, Johan Budi ensures that the President will choose the best, professional, high-integrity, and courageous.


Previously, several names to replace BNN head have circulated; they were the Chief of Police's Criminal Investigation Unit Comr. Gen. Ari Dono Sukmanto, Assistant for Chief of Police Operations Insp. Gen. Muhammad Iriawan, and BNN's Deputy of Eradication Insp. Gen. Arman Depari.
