TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Wiranto explained the government immediately investigated the arrest of 15 Indonesians in Syria who allegedly associated with the ISIS group. "Foreign Minister and BNPT will take care of it," he said in Political, Legal and Security Affairs Ministry (Kemenpolhukam) building, Tuesday, February 27.

Wiranto said Foreign Ministry and The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) will cooperate with the police to resolve the issue.

The Human Rights Watch (HRW) reported as many as fifteen Indonesians arrested were women. They were captured by Kurdish forces in Syria for being accused of ISIS members.

Apart from Indonesia, the women joining the ISIS group in Syria came from nearly 40 countries including Canada, France, England, Tunisia, Yemen, Turkey, Australia, and Germany. The women were free to do any activities, yet they were not allowed to leave the detention camp.
