TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Rain is poured in Jakarta ahead of Lunar New Year 2018 celebration. This is in accordance with the weather forecast of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on the potential of rain with lightning and strong winds on Thursday morning until evening, February 15.

BMKG spokesman Hary Djatmiko said the weather on Thursday morning will be cloudy and light intensity of rain will pour the North and Central Jakarta.

"Overall, the weather in Jakarta and surrounding areas are cloudy and will be light rain," Hary said in a written statement.

The intensity of moderate rain will occur during the day in the West and South Jakarta area. Meanwhile, light rain will shower other Jakarta areas. In the evening, the weather will be cloudy, and light rain will fall in the early morning.

"Light rain will fall in the early morning on the Thousand Islands, Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, and East Jakarta," he added.

The air temperature on a day before the Lunar New Year is estimated to be around 23-31 degrees Celsius, with humidity of 65-90 percent. The wind moves from west to northwest with a speed of 5-30 km per hour according to BMKG weather forecasts.
