TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla received the Benevolence Award from the World Chinese Economic Summit (WCES) and the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (ASLI).
WCES CEO and ASLI Chairman Michael Yeoh said the award was given to non-Chinese public figures that largely contributed in leading his country and community.
“Vice President Jusuf Kalla was awarded for his contributions and efforts in maintaining peace and solving conflicts,” said Yeoh at the Vice-Presidential Office on Monday, February 12.
Yeoh and WCES Co-Founder Lee Kim Yew both presented the award placard at the VP office this morning. The award was supposed to be given to VP Kalla during the gala dinner of the 9th World Chinese Economic Summit 2017 Award that was held in Hongkong on November 2017. However, Kalla was not able to attend it.
Jusuf Kalla is the fifth figure receiving the award. The previous figures awarded by the WCES and ASLI include former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, and Duke of York Prince Andrew.
