TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The State Palace Protocol, Press and Media Secretariat denied rumors that President Joko Widodo`s (Jokowi) car had an accident during a visit to West Sumatra.

According to the secretariat's deputy Bey Machmudin, the black minibus that had an accident on the West Sumatra Highway was not the car that was carrying the presidential entourage.

“The car that had an accident belongs to the West Sumatra Provincial Government. It had an accident at 16:30,” he said as quoted from the cabinet secretariat’s website, Friday, Feb. 9.

President Jokowi is in West Sumatra since Wednesday for a series of agendas. Today, he is scheduled to attend the National Press Day ceremony in Cimpago Lake, Padang City, and lead the ground-breaking ceremony of the Padang-Pekanbaru Toll Road Construction.
