TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin is preparing a regulation on zakat (alms) levies from the cuts of Muslim civil servant (PNS) salary.
Lukman said that the presidential decree will be announced soon. The salary will be cut by 2.5 percent.
He said that the rule is not mandatory, if they are not willing, they may file an objection.
The zakat from the salary cut will be used to alleviate poverty and increase prosperity. It will be channeled to the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS), Lukman said.
