TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Logistics Agency (Bulog) stated they only could import 346,000 tons of rice from the target of 500,000 tons.
"Currently, the maximum import is 500,000 tons (ton of rice), while we only get 346,000," said Djarot Kusumayakti, Director General of National Logistic Agency (Perum Bulog) in Jakarta on Monday, January 22.
But unfortunately, Djarot did not explain the reason why the rice import target was not achieved.
Shortly before, the Ministry of Commerce issued the rice import policy after received no data on rice stock from the Ministry of Agriculture.
Import decree was taken after previously validated the Regulation of the Minister of Trade No. 1 of 2018 first.
However, after Vice President Jusuf Kalla commented on the import decree, the imports through Indonesian Trade Company (PPI) were canceled and replaced again with Bulog.
