Bambang Soesatyo Officially Announced as DPR Chairman

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Golkar Party Faction officially announced the new Chairman of Legal Commission of the House of Representatives (DPR) Bambang Soesatyo, replacing Setya Novanto. The announcement was delivered in the Golkar Faction meeting room, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday, January 15. It was delivered directly by the Chairman of Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto.


"After the discussions and mechanisms in the Golkar Party and also the consideration of Golkar figures, then Bambang Soesatyo is elected as the chairman," said Airlangga Hartarto.
Earlier, Deputy Secretary General of Golkar Party, Muhammad Sarmuji, said that Bambang was elected among six politicians because he is senior and experienced.

"Among the six names, he can solve the problem," Sarmuji told Tempo on Sunday, January 14. The banyan party cadres which entered the candidate are Aziz Syamsuddin, Zainudd in Amali, Kahar Muzakir, Agus Gumiwang, and Rambe Kamarul Zaman.


Golkar Party Central Executive Board also sent Bambang Soesatyo’s name to the Golkar Board of Trustees for consideration. This evening, Sunday, January 14, Golkar Board of Trustees held a meeting related to it, and the Golkar Chairman of the Board of Trustees Aburizal Bakrie said the appointment was approved for Bambang Soesatyo as the chairman of House of Representatives to replace Setya Novanto.


"Golkar Party Board of Trustees can approve and support the establishment of Bambang Soesatyo as chairman of the House of Representatives," said Aburizal at Bakrie Tower, South Jakarta, Sunday night, January 14. Golkar politician Ahmad Noor Supit also said that one of the reasons his party chose Bambang Soesatyo was because he was considered to be able to communicate with all parties and cross-factions.
