TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi voiced his concerns regarding Indonesia’s economic condition which he said has shown a slow-paced improvement even though it is currently in a better condition.
“It’s like being ill. It all seems okay. But we are still unable to run fast,” said Jokowi during a limited cabinet meeting on investments and trade held on Friday, January 5.

According to Jokowi, every economic indicator is currently positive, as reflected by the level of international trust towards a better economic management. He referred to an example of the improvement in the ease of doing business (EODB) where Indonesia was ranked at 120th position in 2014 and is currently ranked 72nd.
“That’s a huge leap,” said the seventh Indonesian President. He also reminded his Ministers “not to lose the momentum.”
The only thing puzzling him is that the overall positive economic condition has not provided significant contributions to the country’s level of investment and export performance. “The problem must be identified,” said Jokowi.
