TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned energy firm PT Pertamina denied scarcity of 3-kg liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in a number of regions. Pertamina Marketing Director Muchamad Iskandar said that what actually happened is there is a shortage of supplies of the subsidized gas.

"It is not scarcity. If it is scarce, then it means the goods are not available. This is shortage in supplies," Iskandar said in Jakarta on Saturday (9/12).

Such a statement is a response to news circulating that there is scarcity of 3-kg LPG in a number of areas in West Java including Bogor, Depok, and Subang. West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan stated to receive reports on the scarcity. However, Aher has not been informed on the cause of the scarcity including the possibility of hoarding.

Furthermore, Iskandar said that Pertamina has sent 3-kg LPG supplies to a number areas which claimed to have shortage. For example,Pertamina sent 560 Cannisters to Bogor.

Iskandar added that other regions which are short on supplies have been dealt with including in Aceh, South Kalimantan, Riau, and West Sumatera. Additional supplies are provided in a number of regencies to anticipate potential problems.
