TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan is planning to work with the Indonesian Navi (TNI AL) to clean city rivers.
“Clean rivers can be used for various activities,” Anies said at a military command in Central Jakarta today. “The West Armada Commander will make them [the rivers] presentable.”
Anies had the idea to initiate cooperation plan with the Indonesian Navy when he participated in the Fun Bike event with Indonesian Navy chief of staff Admiral Ade Supandi and Indonesian West Armada commander Rear Admiral Aan Kurnia. They started from the National Monument to the West Armada Command. At Pasar Baru, they passed a branch of Ciliwung River that is not in a good condition.
Anies said that he would draft the cooperation concept in the near future. Anies hopes that the cooperation would strengthen the ties between the Jakarta administration and the Indonesian Navy. Anies also called on Jakarta residents to learn more from the Indonesian Navy.
“The nature is not always friendly. Navy officers have been prepared to face such a condition,” Anies said.
