TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Journalist and presenter Najwa Shihab dismissed an allegation made by Setya Novanto’s lawyer Fredrich Yunadi saying that the video footage containing an interview with the lawyer was edited.

“The video that I uploaded on YouTube was not edited. We did not cut the video uploaded to social media. They were Fredrich’s words,” Najwa said on Tuesday, November 28.

During an interview, Fredrich said he is living a luxurious life. He also said that he usually spends billions of rupiahs when traveling overseas.

“I like luxury. When traveling overseas, I spend at least Rp3-5 billion. I also bought Hermes bag worth Rp1 billion,” Fredrich said in an interview hosted by Najwa on Friday, November 24.

In response to a question related to the statement, Fredrich said the video was edited.

Najwa said the interview was conducted in Jakarta, and the video was fully uploaded to YouTube. She added that the video disseminated on social media was not edited.

Najwa explained that the reason for interviewing Fredrich and Dinal Fariz, coordinator of political corruption division at the Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) was to discuss Setya Novanto’s case.

“So, it’s like Tempo hosting an interview to discuss a trending and interesting topic. It’s purely journalism,” Najwa clarified.
