Vice President Jusuf Kalla hopes Setya Novanto's medical conditions can be verified by doctors from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). He said that many people take advantage of a doctor's note for unauthorized purposes.

"Many are hiding behind the doctor's note," Kalla said at the Marine Corps Command Headquarters in Kwitang, Central Jakarta on Friday, November 17.

Therefore, the vice president said that status of the House of Representatives (DPR) speaker's illness must be verified. The goal, he added, is to prevent his sickness from protracting his prosecution.

"A person's claim that he or she is sick should always be checked by doctors from KPK itself," said JK.

Golkar chairman Setya Novanto had an accident on Thursday afternoon, November 16. The car he rode in crashed on to an electric pole at the Permata Hijau area, South Jakarta. Setya was treated in Medika Permata Hijau Hospital before being transferred to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in Central Jakarta, today. It was reported that his face was bruised and swollen.

The accident happened when the KPK was searching for him. On Wednesday, November 15, KPK investigators came to the Golkar Party chairman's house to arrest him. But the e-KTP graft suspect was not home and couldn’t be contacted.

The KPK then put Setya's name on its most wanted list on Thursday. Not long after, he was reported to have been involved in the car crash.
