TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Kahiyang Ayu, daughter of Indonesian President Joko Widodo or Jokowi, will marry Bobby Nasution, son of late Erwin Nasution, former president director of state-owned plantation company PT Perkebunan Nusantara.

Kahiyang and Bobby are scheduled to hold their wedding reception on Wednesday, November 8. They plan to invite thousands of guests consisting of family, friends, state officials, and volunteers.

The following are five unique facts regarding the wedding preparation.

1. The wedding meeting was led by Jokowi’s eldest son

Gibran Rakabuming Raka is President Jokowi’s eldest son that has volunteered to help his sister’s wedding. As a result of the meeting, he was appointed as the spokesman for the Jokowi family. Gibran will supervise the preparation of each wedding division.

2. The bride and the groom will be transported on a horse-drawn carriage

The wedding ceremony will feature six horse-drawn carriages that will be used to transport Kahiyang and Bobby to the locations of the wedding solemnization and reception.

3. The seven-well 'siraman' procession

As any Javanese traditional wedding, the wedding in Wednesday will also hold the ‘Siraman’ – where the bride and groom are symbolically ‘washed’ or ‘bathed’ in a place specially designed for this purpose such as a garden. The water used in this procession is reportedly taken from the wells in seven different locations.

4. President Jokowi will lead the ‘Bleketepe’ procession

President Jokowi will lead the traditional ‘bleketepe’ procession. This is where the father of the bride sets a traditional wedding ornament, constructed in a form of a green coconut webbing, at the entrance of the wedding location assisted by the mother of the bride.

5. 50 Becak guest ushers

As many as 50 local ‘becak’, or Javanese traditional rickshaws, will be deployed to usher the guests from the parking lot to the location of the wedding reception of Kahiyang Ayu and Bobby Nasution.
