TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gorontalo Governor Rusli Habibie will firmly sanction teachers smoking in school grounds by displacing such teachers to remote areas in that province.

"If there is a teacher who smokes in school grounds, send a text message or send a Whatsapp message to my number081313424131, also send a picture of the teacher who is smoking, I will impose severe sanction," Habibie stated.

He delivered such a statement while launching school entrepreneur program in 1 Senior High School in Tibawa, GorontaloRegency on Saturday (28/10). "I do not want to see any teachers smoking in class or in school grounds, let alone the students,"he warned.

Such prohibition of smoking is not without a reason. In addition to health factor, teachers who smoke will exert bad influence to the students’ psychological development.

Furthermore, Gorontalo Provincial administration has been intensively issued smoking prohibition in public since 2014 based on Regional Regulation No. 10/2014 on non-smoking areas, especially in schools, hospitals and stations.
